Stanford’s new site for contemplation and reflection will feature the paintings of the great artist and late Stanford art Professor Nathan Oliveira.

Oliveira was a client at Artworks Foundry for many years and we are specially happy to see this amazing person that was Nathan been honored.

Lawrence Noble’s Darth Vader half-life size pieces are ready to go!

The artist have already cast bronze sculptures of other characters from Star Wars like Yoda.

Our Patina artist is Aiya Jordan-Kawasaki. She has many years of experience and does an excellent work in the final step of the bronze casting!

Peter Voulkos’ last work in bronze “Crazy Horse”, 2002

This video is a treasure found among our collection of old videos at Artworks Foundry!

It shows Peter Voulkos’ master piece “Crazy Horse” in progress at our facility.
Peter worked on “Crazy Horse” together with Piero Mussi since the first ideas about the piece and he was so excited to see the final results that he used to come to check on it also at night time.
It is a unique artwork and no mold was taken from it, since it was made straight from the wax.
Crazy Horse was finished in 2002 and it was Voulkos’ last piece in bronze.

Hickstead, the “Best horse in the world” is honored with a bronze statue in Canada

Hickstead statute being reveiled in Canada

One more of our big projects was unveiled few days ago in a beautiful cerimony realized in Calgary, Canada.

The stunning bronze statue was designed by artist Mary Sand and represents the gold-medal winning Hickstead, elected the “Best Horse in the World” in 2010 due to his many victories and participation in many competitons around the world.

The statue of Hickstead will now be displayed at Spruce Meadows on a permanent basis in homage to this wonderful athlete.

We are looking for an experienced metal finisher to start immediately.

This position requires:

– High experience in assembling, welding, chasing and grinding bronze sculptures
– Must be very good in detailing
– Must be able to use electric and pneumatic hand tools
– Must be able to read and interpret technical and artistic instructions
– Must have abilities such as problem solving and good speed production while maintaining high quality
– Must have punctuality and be able to meet dead-lines

Artworks Foundry Tour

Artworks Foundry is pleased to offer tours to anyone interested in learning about the technique of the lost wax process.

Groups are led through each department of the foundry to demonstrate how an original sculpture become a finished broze. The highlight of every tour is viewing the pouring of molten bronze.

Artworks’ bronze project on the SF Chronicle

Bronze cast at Artworks on the San Francisco Chronicle (March 15th)

In this Thursday’s (March 15th) SF Chronicle you can find a bronze sculpture made by the artist Alice Shaw and cast at Artworks Foundry.

The work piece is tittled “One Man’s Trash Is Another Man’s Treasure” and it’s part of Alice Shaw’s exhibition “Landscape Update”, at Gallery 15, in San Francisco.

A new project on the way!

This week another important and major project was completed at the Foundry. To reach up to its final delivery, we had a whole year of work, since its first conception, going through all the stages of production, and ending to the last finishing and patina.

The piece is 10ft high and 12ft wide, and will be installed in a place where people go to cheer for their favorite team and sport. So far we can not reveal the name of the piece and where it goes, but stay tuned that in a few weeks all will be revealed!
